Meet Our Founder:
Minkie Mokubela

My journey began with a dream to be a social worker. One day, back in 1998, I was in the hospital when I saw a young boy pushing his grandmother in a wheelchair. The grandmother looked unwell, so I approached them to assist with the wheelchair. Out of concern, I asked them where they were heading, and they said, “home.” It worried me that they didn’t have another adult with them. After asking a few questions, I learned that the boy was an orphan, and his grandmother, who was HIV positive, was struggling to care for both of them. I knew they desperately needed help and support.

This encounter deeply moved me. I decided to resign from my job as a social worker and shift my focus entirely to the needs of the community. It became clear that people like this young boy and his grandmother required not just emotional support but tangible assistance to improve their quality of life.

In July 2003, I officially registered the Perseverance Rural Development Centre (PRUDEC) under the Department of Social Development. The organization's mission is to enrich the lives of individuals in the Hammanskraal community. PRUDEC provides crucial services such as food parcels, psychosocial support, and community-based interventions. Our focus is on addressing the real challenges faced by vulnerable families and individuals, ensuring that they receive the help they need.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive donations and sponsorships from various organizations, which have allowed us to expand our reach and impact. We continue to welcome assistance to support more individuals and families in need, ensuring that no one in our community is left behind.
